Our healthcare facility is looking for a Dietary Cook to join our team. We are looking for a cheerful and enthusiastic cook who is eager to seek out new cooking methods/principles and incorporate them into existing dietary practices. In this role you will interact with a residents, family members, and other employees; you must have excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to remain professional in all circumstances. The goal is to provide excellent food services by following instructions and standards.
Shift: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
Rate: $15.50 - $17.00

Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED, a plus
- 18 years of age
- Serve Safe certification, a plus
- Minimum of 1 year in a hospital, skilled nursing or other medical facility, preferred
- Knowledge of dietary procedures
- Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- Must be a team player with a strong work ethic and the willingness to help where and when it is needed
- Handle job responsibilities in accordance with the standards of the Company's Code of Conduct and appropriate professional standards and applicable state/federal laws.
- A fast learner with an interest in kitchen work
- Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
- The ability to stand for long hours
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety rules
Responsibilities
- Keep all kitchen work surfaces and equipment clean, sanitized and in good working order
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation guidelines
- Arrange equipment and ingredient deliveries
- Prepare all meals according to recipes
Lorien Columbia is located in the heart of Howard County, MD and the first of 9 Lorien facilities. We have been in business in the healthcare industry for over 42 years. Our facility includes skilled nursing, rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, as well as the only Korean nursing unit in Howard County with 175 beds total, 4 nursing units, and are currently undergoing expansion to add a 5th Nursing unit.
