Counter Attendants – FT and PT Opportunities at The Black Dog Bakery Café and The Black Dog Tavern

We’re seeking Counter Attendants to provide excellent service to our take-out guests!

Counter Attendant Qualifications:

• Minimum of one-year experience preferred
• Actively support a culture of safety which includes food safety, team member safety and customer safety
• Strong customer service skills; friendly and positive attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends

Counter Attendant Job Responsibilities:

• Welcome guests
• Describe food items on menu
• Assist guests with takeout orders
• Answer phones, answer questions regarding menu items, and assist with take-out orders
• Keep all work areas clean, including display cases, counters, and floors
• Use POS system and successfully balance cash and coin
• Performs other related duties as assigned

It all started with a stale donut. Captain Robert Douglas’ dissatisfaction with a bitter cup of coffee and a dry, packaged, store-bought donut, turned into a vision for year-round dining that would look just right on the beach at the head of Vineyard Haven Harbor, a place where locals and visitors could meet and eat. When the building was completed, the Captain gave his restaurant the name, The Black Dog Tavern, in honor of his faithful canine companion Black Dog. Not much has changed from those early days. The view of Vineyard Haven Harbor is still as lovely as ever and the Tavern chefs continue to share their culinary creations with our customers. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including daily specials, year-round, and always craft our food with the finest ingredients.

The Black Dog Bakery Café is known for its homemade-from-scratch pastries, desserts, cookies, cakes, pies, and more! The café serves a full breakfast and lunch menu, including specialty coffees to complement our famous baked goods. Additionally, we specialize in fresh sandwiches, including lobster rolls, the turkey club, classic BLT, and more, all made on our delicious Black Dog bread.
