The Craft Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering Region-specific Craft Training Programs in a manner that is effective, professional, and engaging so that the business demands and learning requirements are met, ensuring a flawless execution to maximize success. This includes developing training programs and delivery methodology, teaching courses, facilitating discussions, writing courses, and partnering with other subject-matter experts and leaders to create learning programs and assess learning needs. In addition, this individual works as part of the Craft Training and Development Team to deliver first-in-class training programs for the SW Region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver job-specific and region-specific technical training programs.
  • Responsible for the design, development, and delivery of local Safety training programs.
  • Assess current training programs and suggest modifications that enhance the learners' performance as well as the learning experience.
  • Work with the instructional designers to provide support as a subject matter expert to develop training programs.
  • Deliver the Train-the-Trainer program to expand the reach of training and development programs throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrate the ability to describe technical concepts in a way that makes them easily understandable, digestible, and relatable.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Craft Learning Manager, Regional Learning Managers, and other stakeholders that request training.
  • Develop and review course evaluations.
  • Maintain technical knowledge.
  • Review training schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or similar years of experience in a construction related field required.
  • 3-5 years related experience developing and delivering training programs.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and best practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of the various training solution programs offered by NCCER.
  • Technical aptitude and demonstrated experience leveraging learning technologies and tools that integrate with and support learning activities.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish is required with the ability to read and translate construction and related terminology.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Extensive Travel (up to 50%)
  • Certification as an NCCER Master Trainer preferred.
  • Experience teaching the following safety courses: Crane Operations, Forklift Safety, and CPR
  • Experience using basic construction materials such as concrete, lumber, sand
  • Experience teaching construction/craft courses
