NRDC is seeking a Southeastern Regional Communications Manager, Media to work with the Communications team in our Santa Monica office.
Position Summary
NRDC is seeking a Creative Director for Rewrite the Future (RTF), an initiative that helps Hollywood tell more compelling stories about the climate crisis through industry dialogue, education, story and corporate consultation, and traditional advocacy. The Creative Director will lead and manage RTF’s consulting work on films and television shows; help develop RTF strategy; manage key relationships with entertainment companies, guilds, universities, and creative professionals; help write and edit a range of material, including the RTF newsletter, articles, Q&As, book chapters, and curricula; act as a spokesperson for RTF; and help maintain and expand RTF’s funding. The Creative Director will report to the Director of RTF and be based in NRDC’s Santa Monica office. Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage creative consultations, including reviewing scripts, conducting research with NRDC subject matter experts and other sources, and writing story memos.
- Assist in writing and editing texts such as the RTF newsletter, articles, Q&As, book chapters, and curricula.
- Help systemize projects and presentations to improve efficiency and maximize impact.
- In addition to the Director, serve as an external spokesperson for RTF and NRDC on panels, in media, and at conferences, etc.
- In conjunction with the Director, present RTF’s education and training curriculum for Hollywood professionals.
- Help develop curriculum, marketing materials, and workshops.
- Conceptualize public events and recruit panelists and participants.
- Embed equity and justice in NRDC’s communications work.
- Help maintain and expand RTF’s funding. This includes writing grant reports, meeting with funders and potential funders, and relationship management.
- Help oversee consultant management.
- A passion for environmental issues
- A commitment to NRDC’s mission and values
- A Bachelor of Arts degree (or equivalent)
- At least 15 years of professional experience in entertainment in creative roles
- A comprehensive understanding of the entertainment development and production process
- Refined skills for literary analysis
- Substantial experience working with writers, directors, producers, studio executives, and other creative professionals
- Strong skills for managing people, projects, and relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
