The mission of the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) Department of Computer and Cyber Sciences (DFCS) is to focus on producing officers who effectively use computing principles and technology in defense of our nation. Position Responsibilities:

Aleut is searching for an enthusiastic and capable post-doc engineer to support ongoing Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) Vulnerabilities and Associated Wireless Data Security Protocol research being undertaken in the Academy Center for Cyberspace Research (ACCR). Research efforts will focus on side channel attacks of Bluetooth, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Lidar, LiFi, and laser communications. It is anticipated that this position will include providing technical expertise to cadet capstone project teams.

The scope of work will include:

  • RFID side-channel communication and mitigations
  • Bluetooth vulnerabilities and specifically Bluetooth side-channel communication and mitigations
  • Vulnerabilities associated with LiFi or internet data being transferred in the visible light range and associated mitigations
  • Proposing and conducting cyber-attack experiments
  • Assist and advise DFCS in grant proposal development
  • Documenting and archiving project artifacts in accordance with department policy

Job Requirements

Education

  • Terminal Degree (PhD or similar) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Science or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Research experience in a university environment
  • Experience in wireless point to point communication protocols
  • Familiarity with creating and developing research publications in a university environment
  • Ability to support grant processes in support of research programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications
  • Ability to work in the high operations tempo of a quasi-university environment founded on military standards
  • Familiarity with using DoD, USAF and USAFA instructions and guidelines for conduct of work
  • Experience working in military environment with knowledge of rank, protocol and culture
  • Ability to support limited travel as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
