Job Title: Data Analyst
Department: Undergraduate Admission
Division: Admission & Financial Aid
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Associate Director of Admission Operations & Communications
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, typically 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Grade Level: 6
Union: MICA Staff Union
General purpose
  • The Data Analyst, under general supervision, gathers, compiles, analyzes, interprets, reports data and identifies patterns for Undergraduate Admissions.
Summary of Essential Functions
  • Develops, maintains, and updates databases for specialized projects
  • Compiles data into usable reports.
  • Collects and tallies data.
  • Prepares, maintains, and presents historical and comparative data.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responds to requests for information and prepares ad-hoc reports and query analyses in desired formats
  • Manipulates data and calculations
  • Analyzes and interprets data, both quantitative and qualitative analyses, using accepted statistical methods and qualitative research methods
  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of all data procedures
  • Modify existing Peoplesoft queries to create datasets for basic reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and flexibility
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Quality problem solving skills
  • Team player, able to balance more than one task at a time and function within a busy office environment
Minimum qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience: Three years of related experience in data collection and analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with CRM software (Slate)
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Required training: Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment.
