Data Center Support Specialist Job at CSA – Careers
CSA+Capstone is seeking Data Center Operations Support Technicians to support the Navy’s MPTE TSS 2 Training Delivery Services data center located in Great Lakes, IL.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor the data center for server availability and network connectivity.
- Monitor MPTE hosted web sites for availability and down times.
- Monitor HVAC, flooding, fire suppression, intrusion detection and primary/backup power systems.
- Assist Facilities Manager with physical access control. Monitor and maintain the electronic building access control computer system.
- Control vender, technician and other approved visitors to the facility by issuing and controlling visitor badges and logs.
- Perform security checks on classified spaces, log open and close of secure spaces and perform daily classified equipment inventory. Perform after-hour door checks as required.
- Draft, review and upkeep Data Center Standard Operating Procedures.
- Initiate emergency actions and disaster recovery procedures and notify appropriate personnel.
- Assist in Continuity of Operations for moving data center operations to off-site COOP facility.
- Assist the Enterprise support team in the upkeep, routine maintenance and repair of physical servers and network devices.
- Monitor server cert expirations and make appropriate notifications to system owners.
- Initiate downtime and restoration notifications.
- Perform System backup and restore operations using Veritas NetBackup or other applicable systems.
- Perform HDD and storage media destruction, logging and reporting.
- Perform equipment inventories and maintain custody records.
- Should be able to lift 25 lbs, climb stairs, climb ladders, stoop under desks and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Education
- High School Diploma
- Years of Experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance. Be able to pass a security investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Functional expertise with Data Center Operations
- Environmental monitoring.
- Server system monitoring via Windows performance monitoring or other applicable tools.
- Familiar with trouble ticket submission and tracking
- Minimum Certifications
- Navy Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) baseline certification to include CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA A+
Specialist III
- 6 years of General Experience: Data Center Operations, Electronic Documentation, System Monitoring
Specialist IV
- 3 years of General Experience: Data Center Operations, Electronic Documentation, System Monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
- BA or BS degree from an accredited institution in related field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, etc.)
- Splunk enterprise monitoring experience.
- Windows server administrations skills.
- Familiarity with Remedy ticketing system.
- Physical access control experience.
- Symantec Altiris monitoring experience.
