Overview:
Designs, develops, and implements methods, processes, and systems to analyze diverse data. Applies knowledge of statistics, machine learning, advanced mathematics, simulation, software development, and data modeling to integrate and clean data, recognize patterns, address uncertainty, pose questions, and make discoveries from structured and/or unstructured data. Produces solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets. Designs, develops, and evaluates predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data. Demonstrates ability to transfer skills across application domains.


The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for implementing existing and developing novel bioinformatic and cheminformatic analyses pipelines across a variety of environmental and human-focused projects. In addition, the candidate will contribute substantially to the conceptual development of research projects and is expected to lead peer-reviewed publications based on integrative informatics using multi-omics datasets. Contributions to proposals is also expected, and opportunities to lead proposals will be available. All work will be done in a team-based environment, and the candidate is expected to contribute to team goals and a productive and inclusive team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement methods, processes, and systems to analyze diverse environmental and human health datasets.
  • Apply knowledge of statistics, mathematics, machine learning, data modeling and high-performance data architectures, software development, and advanced computing to integrate and prepare data.
  • Invent and implement computational methods for complex, high-dimensional, and high-volume data analyses.
  • Produce software to support exploratory data analysis from complex multi-dimensional datasets.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate models and algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from datasets across application domains.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA and 2 years of relevant experience -OR-
  • MS/MA -OR-
  • PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD with 3+ years of experience in bioinformatics and/or cheminformatics
  • Expertise working with integrating multi-omics datasets from diverse environmental and human systems
  • Advanced computer coding skills in R and/or Python
  • Demonstrated ability to publish significant contributions in the peer reviewed scientific literature
  • Significant experience working in scientific teams with diverse composition
