Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Migrant Shelter team as a Data Specialist. The Data Specialist provides support for multi-layered legal, humanitarian, and respite shelter program operations that serve asylum seekers who have been released into the United States by the Department of Homeland Security. The position supports the day-to-day Migrant Shelter operations by providing user-support, troubleshooting, problem-solving, data quality audits, reports, and data entry. This position reports directly to the Data Specialist Coordinator and works closely with the rest of the data and migrant shelter team.
Responsibilities:
- Provides in-depth knowledge and expertise in all aspects of the client management database and provides technical assistance to JFS staff.
- Provides the required information to governmental and other outside agencies, on a daily and weekly basis.
- Data reconfiguration for the purposes of batch/bulk import/export between multiple data sources to one client management database.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and assists in preparing reports, data integrity, program and client statistics and State compliance information.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive employee and migrant shelter guest information.
- Supports the day-to-day Migrant Shelter operations within the client management database. Including user-support, troubleshooting, problem-solving, data quality audits, reports, and data entry.
- Ability to handle multiple projects, perform well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Maintain clear communication with the team and respond to in-the-moment data needs
- Provide input on processes related to role as needed.
- Prioritize tasks based on operational need Participate in required training.
- Other duties as assigned.
The responsibilities below are assigned depending on experience:
- Create, maintain, and revise process related to shelter operations
- Interface with shelter leadership to routinely to address complex items
- Overseeing all Data Specialist tasks for accuracy, progress, deadlines.
- Provide direct mentorship and training to other Data Specialists
- Assisting with new/temp tasks at the needs of shelter leadership.
Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
- Previous experience with operations performance management and support and/or program evaluation a plus
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to learn and utilize new computer applications
- Ability to organize, summarize and analyze data sets
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving several variables and to apply common sense and critical thinking to solve problems within scope of authority
- Maintain positive working relationship with data team and other shelter staff
- Ability and willingness to succeed in a stressful environment
- Willingness to pivot quickly to process changes
- Detail-oriented and ability to understand the big picture with excellent follow-through

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
- Experience with a client management database such as ETO, Salesforce, Apricot, Iris, etc. (ETO preferred)
