About the division:
The Health Care Authority’s mission is to provide high quality health care through innovative health policies and purchasing strategies. The
Clinical Quality and Care Transformation (CQCT) Division is responsible for designing and implementing clinical policy for medical, dental, and behavioral services; conducting oversight and monitoring of all clinically related programs; and communicating with stakeholders, providers, plans, and delivery system partners on clinical activities and issues. Clinical policy and operations include leading the state in care transformation and supporting HCA programs.
About the position:
The
Dental Director
(MD) provides leadership to lead the state in dental benefit programs administered within the HCA. Leading the state includes collaborating and communicating with dental providers, insurers, and other stakeholders; defining strategies; aligning resources to goals and strategies; implementing and evaluating the results of clinical leadership efforts. This position primarily supports the Medicaid program including developing and facilitating implementation of dental benefits, coverage criteria, monitoring the dental care provided to Medicaid clients and service quality and improvements, supporting agency and dental initiatives, and contracting for Medicaid dental functions. This position also supports the PEBB/SEBB programs on an ad hoc consultative basis.
This position is eligible to telework and is typically not required to report on-site. Frequent meetings in and out-of-state, including overnight required.
Duties
Some of what you will do:
- The Dental Director leads and supports the business process and initiatives within the CQCT Division to fulfill HCA’s vision of a healthier Washington. The Dental Director will represent the HCA in efforts to lead and improve the dental benefit program. This consists of managing the participation and outcome of workgroups focused on innovating and improving various dental care delivery functions.
- The Dental Director will primarily serve as a representative for Medicaid and support the Public Employees Benefits (PEBB) and the School Employee Benefits (SEBB) programs as needed. For Medicaid, this position has primary responsibility for leading development of coverage criteria for emerging or high-profile dental care modalities, monitoring providers of dental care, developing and overseeing performance improvement projects for the dental program, participating in oversight committee and status meetings. Provides one-on-one interaction to engage and listen to the dental providers and the statewide professional dental associations.
- Additionally, they collaborate and support the contracts for dental services with partner agencies (e.g., Department of Health, Department of Social and Health Services, etc.). In partnership with other agency staff (QMT), offers clinical dental expertise for recommendation in the credentialing and monitoring of dental providers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A Dental degree (DDS or DMD).
- Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Washington. (Licensure must be unrestricted).
- Board certification in their designated subspecialty if applicable.
Minimum of five (5) years of dental practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional business and/or public health-related degrees or training preferred.
- Experience serving the underserved, with community or migrant health experience.
- Familiarity with Dental payment and financing mechanisms.
- Leadership experience either in dental health policy or dental services administration
