Position Overview:
The motion designer will be responsible for creating visually stunning animations that bring static content to life. They will collaborate with a team of designers and other stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and execute high-quality animations that effectively communicate the intended message. They will be responsible for interpreting briefs, creating storyboards, designing graphics and animations, and editing/refining content upon request.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This person should also have a keen eye for detail, a passion for design, and the ability to deliver work with tight turn-around time. A willingness to learn and a collaborative attitude is a must.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Collaborates with the creative team to concept and execute designs across various channels and multiple brands. Works on projects for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, ad campaigns, partnerships, internal/external communications and more, covering Vibrant Emotional Health, 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, the Disaster Distress Helpline, the Veterans Crisis Line, the NFL Life Line as well as other Vibrant properties.
- Creates static designs and/or works with assets provided by other designers/agencies, and brings those designs to life through motion. Works on both motion graphics that enhance live-action videos (lower thirds, intros/outros, spot animations etc.) as well as fully animated productions (explainers, logo animations, looping GIFs, animated infographics, Lottie animations etc.) whenever that might make sense, to help drive the brand or campaign narrative.
- Participates in brainstorming sessions, actively contributes creative ideas and execute upon those ideas.
- Helps manage project files, ensuring all assets, working files and deliverables are organized and up-to-date.
- Ensures that all work is completed within the given timeframe and meets project requirements/specifications.
- Stays up-to-date with industry trends, techniques and technologies (particularly artificial intelligence) to continuously improve design skills and abilities. Leverages appropriate software scripts and plugins.
- Contributes to the overall success of the team by maintaining open communication, collaborating effectively with team members and taking/giving constructive feedback.
- Assists with other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Creative Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Skilled in industry-standard software, particularly After Effects (intermediate level, with some basic expressions knowledge preferred) and ability to use common AE scripts/plugins including the basics of character-rigging tools. Must have working proficiency in Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop and Figma. Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender, Houdini or other 3D programs are a nice plus, but not required.
- Familiar with a range of motion design, animation & compositing techniques and is willing to continuously build upon this range through learning & exploration.
- Deep understanding of the principles of animations and how to apply them.
- A keen eye for design; strong grasp of design fundamentals such as composition, typography, color, etc.
- Basic understanding of video and audio production techniques or is willing to learn
- Knowledge of web and mobile design and animation principles and experience with Lottie animations is a plus
- Understand the look, feel and voice of various Vibrant properties and continuously push forward branding guidelines, particularly for motion
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, take direction and feedback constructively. Be able to communicate ideas, progress updates, and results clearly on a regular basis
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight turn-arounds with minimal supervision is a must
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in motion design, animation, graphic design or a related design field. Willing to consider candidates with no relevant degree but can demonstrate a very strong demo reel plus proven working history in the field.
- 1-3 years+ of experience in motion design, animation, or related fields. For those with no relevant degree: 3-5 years working experience in the field, depending on the strength of candidate’s portfolio/demo reel.
- Must include show reel/demo reel for review regardless of education/degree. Please include your show reel link in your cover letter or resume. Candidates with no show reel/portfolio or cannot point to a collection of previous work will not be considered.
- Candidate may be asked to complete a short design test

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an interest in mental health/suicide prevention, some familiarity with the nonprofit sector, comfortability with and an interest in technology and systems work, have experience with developing and implementing data reports, tools, and ideally a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Data Sciences, Business, or a related field. Knowledge and expertise of public health issues such as capacity building and sustainability (funding streams, payment methods, efficiencies, etc.) preferred. Applicants should be comfortable working independently.
