JOB DESCRIPTIONS
The Development Clerk is responsible for gift processing and acknowledgement of all money (cash, checks and credit cards), charitable gifts, running queries, reports and lists as well as data entry and updates to the Raisers Edge database. He/she will also provide general administrative support to the Advancement Office, Business Office and Front Desk.

- Associate degree or equivalent required.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Development database software (preferably Blackbaud Raisers Edge), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), e-mail.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Two to four years of related work experience
- Experienced writer
- Good phone manners
- Accuracy in posting donations and balancing batches
- Ability to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to work under pressure especially at the peak donation times.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Records and prepares acknowledgement letters for all cash, credit cards and online gifts
- Prepares weekly deposit for the Finance Office. * Prepares, scans and mails acknowledgement letters.*
- Prepares list / labels.
- Prepares monthly credit card and reconciliation reports in collaboration with the Business Manager.
- Enters all updates and changes to Raisers Edge database. Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the data, including input/output, leveraging maximum use of Raisers Edge.
- Prepares customized queries for an array of Advancement reports including segmented appeals, regional events, etc.
- Provides lists for all Advancement mailings.
- Follows up with mail house after each mailing to secure the incorrect and new mailing address lists. Responsible for making these changes in the database.
- Creates donation pages for all fundraising programs/events.
- Audits database records for accurate coding, maintenance of constituent records and data integration; responsible for global changes, creating and mapping required fields.
- Must be able to suggest updates to the website and create e-blasts.
- Develops a gift processing and data entry standards manual for the Development Office.
- Provides critical administrative support to Management as well as serve as first point of contact for all donors’ inquires via phone, email and mail.
- Must be able to fill in at Front Desk/Reception if needed.
- Takes advantage of Blackbaud’s webinar series and classroom instruction to become certified in Raisers Edge Fundamentals and other certifications.
- Staffs and is present at each fundraising or recognition event.
PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all Home information.
- Able to perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking, sitting, and difficult manipulative skills such as equipment calibration, etc.
- Able to perform tasks requiring hand-eye coordination, such as keyboard skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Work effectively and cooperatively as a team member within Department and with all departments or other disciplines.
- Complete duties in prescribed time.
- Attend in-services and department meetings.
- Observe dress and conduct codes, including wearing identification badge.
- Meet attendance standards as established and provide proper notice of absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
WORK SETTING/ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily indoors but at times may attend meetings/seminars outside the facility or may participate in outdoor activities of the Home. Work environment is well lighted, clean and suitable to tasks performed by the employee within temperature control standards that govern a skilled care facility.
