Phyllis Wheatley Community Center (PWCC) is an established nonprofit located in North Minneapolis and is looking for dedicated and qualified people to join our staff! Currently seeking a Part-time Development Associate to support special events, programs, and development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Special Events and Program Support

  • Support set up and tear down for programmatic events.
  • Schedule rooms, speakers and rooms accordingly with program staff.
  • Coordinate invitations, registration, activities, donations and other elements of events including auctions and speakers.
  • Support program staff in coordinating events for participants, such as Mary T. Welcome graduation and client holiday parties.
  • Coordinate registration and marketing for program activities such as trainings and conferences.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to staff.
  • Serve as reserve reception support.

Development Support

  • Administer donor database.
  • Process gifts and in-kind donations and ensure proper acknowledgement/receipt.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of fundraising activities and prepare regular development reports.
  • Support agency development plan to effectively promote the organization, educate the public, and maximize fundraising efforts.
  • Incorporate targeted fundraising strategies within all agency public relations efforts, including website, social media, and print and electronic materials.
  • Responsible for social media presence including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Creating and maintaining social media presence on Tiktok and Snapchat or other social media applications.
  • Support and implement outreach activities including conference displays, events and targeted mailings.
  • Represent the agency with donors and supporters through friendly, professional communications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in data collection, data analysis and reporting statistics in an accurate and meaningful way.
  • Experience with fundraising and/or program related databases.
  • Knowledge of the human services nonprofit sector required; experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.

  • Ability to work in diverse environments and achieve results both individually and working with others.
  • Ability and willingness to assist coworkers, supervisors and clients in a cooperative, solutions-oriented manner.
  • Commitment to racial equity, shared leadership, civic engagement and building the capacity of communities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; ability to quickly adapt to new equipment and technology.
  • Ability to travel as needed within the metro area and occasionally to greater Minnesota.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Valid Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet PWCC’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state and working remotely).
