The Dealer Development Manager is responsible for establishing the dealer channel for Golf and Sports Turf customers in the US. The position is responsible for profitably managing sales activities for GST Dealers nationwide, to include achieving monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales and margin targets and managing strategic initiatives. As a Dealer Development Manager, the individual must understand and implement all policies including finance, accounting, marketing, business process improvements and will be responsible for the strategic direction and customer relationships. This position will be the key company interface with leadership of GST Dealers.
What You Need to Know:
- Assists in establishing dealers in assigned Areas of Responsibilities (AOR), participate in meetings as needed, coordinates the onboarding of new dealers.
- Facilitate the peak performance of the dealer channel as related to compliance and growth.
- Develop competitive activities and strategies for dealer channel and propose tactical initiatives to maintain and grow sales. Employ a variety of business processes related to finance and marketing to support dealer channel goals.
- Make planned dealer-calls and chronicle the discussions and outcomes in CRM.
- Monitor dealer inventory levels and drive business adjustments as required
- Provide management feedback on dealer(s) performance and personnel’s ability, market penetration and dealer feedback.
- Facilitate annual (and as needed) business reviews with dealers and with the support of Husqvarna personnel.
- Recommend sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
- Regularly assess (through sales reports, dealer surveys, and other appropriate methods) the performance and support needs of dealers. Formulate and implement solutions that address deficits.
- Work with dealer field sales personnel, technical service, and accounting staff on how to do business with Husqvarna. Present and support Husqvarna policies to accounts and ensure best practices followed are shared.
- Coordinate product training, including competitive advantages, end user selling techniques and resolving basic technical issues with dealer staff.
- Direct the specific activities within Husqvarna to assure proper training of dealer staff is provided on product, warranty, web ordering and merchandising.
- Present corporate approved pricing, programs, new products, terms, and promotions to dealer buying staff.
- Negotiate volume and SKU portfolio, as well as manage account margin and value creation goals.
- Represent Husqvarna at trade shows, dealer meetings and other critical customer events.
- Develop annual improvement action plan for each dealer and work with dealer on execution of improvement plan.
- Communicate account status to Director of Sales – NA and Deliver sales results to plan.
- Regularly coordinate with all inside departments to ensure customer’s needs are met.
- Communicate business trends and business updates to leadership team.
- Provide direct input on the P&L for the business.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Sales Management or Golf and Sports Industry related field
- 5+ years of Sales / Marketing experience in a consumer, durable goods industry
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Golf and sports turf equipment experience
- First-hand knowledge and sales management experience with dealers and/or buying groups
- Sales and Marketing experience with all channels of distribution
