Squaremouth is looking for a DevOps Engineer who wants to help enhance our cloud infrastructure and in-house tools to increase resiliency and scalability as our systems grow. In addition, this role will involve helping to manage our MDM setup for the growth in our staff and help ensure we maintain proper security compliance for our remote workforce. Our current infrastructure is based on Amazon Web Services administered by internal tooling written in Ruby.

The Squaremouth team promotes a collaborative environment using industry best practices, such as weekly iteration planning meetings, Continuous Integration, code reviews, and Continuous Deployment. Peer critiques and constructive criticism allow the team to grow and learn at a fast pace.

What you will do:

• Create and improve scripts used within our infrastructure for service orchestration and deployment
• Deploy and maintain systems as scalability requires
• Maintain policies and deploy updates to our fleet of computers using JAMF
• Incorporate documentation within your code
• Analyze system metrics and work with developers to troubleshoot performance related issues
• Make presentations to the development team on work completed, new technologies, or code ideas
• Improve internal tools for infrastructure management

Experience and skills that are important for success in this position:

• Ability to work independently, arranging your work to meet deadlines
• Experience managing Linux-based servers supporting a web application
• Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems
• Energetic, positive attitude
• Ability to work within a team, collaborate on projects and share responsibility

It would be great if you had experience with:

• Experience working with configuration automation tools like Chef or Puppet
• Exposure to using containerization software such as Docker
• Experience writing automated regression tests
• Using JAMF to administer computers
• Comfortable using a Mac/Linux terminal
• Spent time managing web applications running on the LAMP stack
• Experience using the Ruby programming language
