Your Role
:

The role of the Dialysis Tech, Acute Dialysis unit, is to assist RN’s with the delivery of patient care. This includes equipment and machine setup, testing, disinfection in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures. The Tech will also initiate, monitor, document but also discontinuing treatments under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will also assist with transferring patients and machines throughout the hospital and room turnover.

  • There is a $5,000 sign on bonus for eligible new full time hires. Bonuses are paid out after 60 days of employment.
  • Rehires who have worked for VUMC in a full-time job in the past year would not be eligible for the signing bonus.
  • PRN and all rehires are eligible for the signing bonus after the 1 year waiting period

Unit Summary:

The environment on our unit is supportive, with opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth while caring for patients with varied acuity and diagnoses.

We provide supportive therapies for Adult and Pediatric patients who are being treated for many diagnoses, requiring continuous and intermittent hemodialysis procedures as well as therapeutic apheresis, including therapeutic plasmapheresis, leukapheresis, LDL apheresis, therapeutic red cell exchanges, and platelet depletions. Our patients are unique because of their vast diagnoses and varied treatments.

The acute Dialysis Unit has eight beds and provide bedside treatments in VUAH and VCH. Our patient ratio is 1:1 or 2:1

One of the perks of working on the Dialysis unit is the collaboration within our multi-disciplinary team. Together our team of nurses, Techs, providers, management, case managers, and social workers provide each patient the treatment they require.

Our Techs are successful because they have supportive peers who believe in teamwork, continuous learning and applying critical care knowledge during treatments.

Position Shifts:

  • Full-time, Second Shift 11am-11:30pm; (36 hours per week)

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and 1 year relevant experience

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):

  • Completion of Certified Clinical Hemodialysis (CCHT) training and certification
