Job Summary
Manages the CSXT internal Association of American Railroads (AAR) Services group, including damaged and defective car processes, CSX Umler & Equipment Advisory administration and mechanical document publishing. Interacts with foreign and private car owners, external repair shops, the AAR, and multiple internal departments besides supporting the Mechanical field personnel. Manages internal technology updates on related systems as a Business Partner to Technology.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Manage, oversee and handle the business of the AAR Services team for CSX and related industry reponsibilities in accordance with the AAR Interchange Rules. Includes proper reporting and processing of damaged or destroyed cars (both on-line and off-line) and cars held for disposition. Verification of defect cards and Joint Inspection Certificates (JICs). Interpret rules and advise of proper procedures.
  • Administer the CSX Umler database for all CSX equipment registration and updates of equipment data and specifications including component tracking.

  • Facilitate and update the Equipment Advisory system for both Industry and Internal advisories.

  • Represent CSXT as an active participant on various AAR Committees, Task Forces and TAGs in regard to Umler, DDCT (Damaged & Defective Car Tracking) and Equipment Advisory.

  • Business Partner to Technogy on internal CSXT systems.

  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree in Business, Information Systems or Engineering
  • 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Mechanical
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree
  • 7 or more years of supervisory experience in Mechanical
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of AAR interchange rules, industry and FRA rules
  • Safety and leadership skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Conflict Management skills
  • Training and user interface development ability
  • Computer literacy including mainframe, microsoft, and web-based systems
  • Strong oral and written communication with various levels of personnel
  • Time management skills
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, Railway Labor Act
  • Ability to work without structured supervision

Job Requirements
  • Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (incl working weekends)
  • Hours which include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be outside standard hours
  • May be required to complete a background check
  • Wear protective equipment (such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection)
  • Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
