About this opportunity:


At Freenome, we are seeking a Director, Assay Development Process Excellence to partner with Development leaders to align processes that improve the organization's strength and productivity. The ideal candidate has extensive experience identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives at the most strategic level, is proficient in lean product development and has a proven track record of utilizing management and process improvement tools (daily management, problem solving & root cause analysis tools, value stream mapping etc.) to meet and exceed strategic business objectives in new product development.

The role reports to our Vice President, Development

What you'll do:

  • Is a member of the Development leadership team, and partners with Development directors to develop processes that improve bench strength and productivity, and remove obstacles to on-time milestone delivery
  • Oversees the identification, creation and implementation of best practices to drive standardization of product development processes, and improvements in product development effectiveness and productivity
  • Uses lessons learned to drive improvements to the execution of current and future development programs
  • Maintains product improvement and process improvement funnels, and works with stakeholders to implement the improvements in a way that minimizes the effort required to implement, and maximizes the impact
  • Develops and deploys tools for effective tracking and efficient utilization of departmental & company resources in accordance with departmental and corporate priorities
  • Champions continuous improvement initiatives within Development and beyond, and works with their cross-functional partners to improve corporate processes in alignment with the Company's overall strategy
  • Owns the relationship with Program Management Office and Development managers to ensure on-time completion of product development deliverables across all subsystems
  • May provide project management support to departmental initiatives or Development projects that are not highly cross-functional in nature
  • Establishes and maintains departmental reporting tools, metrics and KPIs
  • Coordinates establishing, cascading and tracking of corporate, departmental and individual OKRs

Must haves:


  • Masters Degree in a biological science (Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics etc.)
  • Experience with bringing products to market, ideally in the diagnostic space
  • Extensive experience with identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives at the most strategic level
  • Proficient in lean product development, six sigma, quality by design etc.; formal certification is a big plus
  • Proven track record of utilizing management and process improvement tools (daily management, problem solving & root cause analysis tools, value stream mapping etc.) to meet and exceed strategic business objectives
  • Excellent organizational and communications skills and strong ability to lead and work with individuals across all levels in the organization
  • Strong ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams; skilled in change management

Benefits and additional information:

The US target range of our base salary for new hires is $183,000 - $280,000. You will also be eligible to receive pre-IPO equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits dependent on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company's sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
