We are looking for an experienced consumer communications leader to drive the strategy and direction of consumer PR at Yelp. You will lead our consumer PR team in building and executing a communications program focused on bringing people to Yelp, both through creative top-of-funnel campaigns that drive brand awareness and consideration, as well as down-funnel activations and initiatives to drive engagement with the Yelp app.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, creative and collaborative communications pro, who can expertly lead integrated consumer campaigns with internal and external partners. You will be responsible for big-picture thinking and high-level execution, managing agency partners and direct reports, maintaining a steady drumbeat of national and local PR initiatives, and finding creative ways to turn press coverage into app sessions.

This is a full-time role located in the United States.
Where You Come In:
- You will develop and own consumer PR objectives and strategy, in collaboration with Yelp’s communications team and key company stakeholders.
- You will lead creative campaigns and storylines that elevate the Yelp brand through consumer news moments and a steady drumbeat of press coverage around product launches, seasonal moments, brand and influencer partnerships, data-driven lists and trend reports.
- You will collaborate closely with Marketing, Product, SEO, Social, Content, Creative and other internal teams on initiatives to drive consumer engagement with the Yelp app.
- You will develop communications materials including messaging, media statements, press releases, blog posts, and presentations.
- You will prepare and media-train Yelp’s consumer spokespeople for press interviews.
- You will manage consumer PR agency relationships, as well as direct reports.
- You will respond to incoming media inquiries, in partnership with the Comms team.
- You will maintain a strong network of internal partners across various teams throughout Yelp, to continue to identify and leverage opportunities for consumer PR.
- You will build and maintain strong relationships with national and local consumer media, as well as lifestyle press.
What It Takes To Succeed:
- 12+ years experience: mix of consumer agency and in-house at a known consumer brand preferred.
- Creative communicator: exceptional writer and fearless creative strategist who loves using Yelp, and will come up with new ways to tell our story.
- Experienced leader: you have experience managing direct reports and agency partners, and leading cross-functional teams.
- Collaborative team player: experience driving integrated consumer campaigns cross-functionally and working effectively with internal partners. You know how to effectively and diplomatically present your ideas and advance a position.
- Strategic planner: experience developing and executing communications plans leveraging press, social, influencer and creative to achieve goals.
- Media-savvy storyteller: sound judgment and experience managing stories with top tier press, as well as national broadcast segments. You know how to build out a story and have a proven track record for landing impactful features.
- Results-driven: you know what outcomes you’re aiming for and how to measure success.
- Relationship-driven: you’ve built relationships with national consumer media, including print and broadcast, and you’re not afraid to pick up the phone to pitch and get feedback.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
