Director, Marketing Strategy
Work Hours: 9:00 - 5:00
Major Responsibilities
- Lead strategic development of marketing programs to achieve business objectives including customer acquisition, talent acquisition, service adoption, new product awareness, education, and promotion
- Manage activities for the Essendant brand including insights, compliance, and content development
- Identify KPIs for marketing projects, develop measurement program, leverage data for insight to inform marketing optimization
- Lead a team of marketing strategists, manage and prioritize workloads, provide coaching to support continual development
- Manage marketing projects, organize project activities and milestones, develop and maintain timelines, assign work among direct reports and cross-functional partners, drive accountability among project team, effectively communicate project status across organization, problem solve through project challenges
- Pursue continuous learning, keep up on marketing best practices and technologies, review MarTech stack and tools, and partner with marketing operations team to develop and prioritize MarTech roadmap
- Develop and manage marketing budget
Skills/Knowledge Required
- Ability to work cross-functionally, build trust, understand business needs, and translate them into sales & marketing content
- Proven experience with go-to-market tactics for sales & marketing and record of developing the appropriate tactics to reach the target audience and achieve business outcomes
- Knowledge of marketing measurement and KPIs, able to understand, organize and synthesize data, derive insight, and develop action plans to optimize marketing efforts to achieve goals
- Experience working with creative teams with proven ability to provide creative direction to achieve desired business outcomes
- Experience leading a team of direct reports
- Project management acumen
- Passion for learning
- Agency management, specifically for insights and creative
- Tactical understanding and experience with sales enablement, brand website, events, PR, social media, e-commerce, SEO, SEM, UX, digital advertising, out-of-home, print
- Technological familiarity with CRM or other marketing automation (e.g., Salesforce, Hubspot, Marketo), and content management systems (e.g., Wordpress, Drupal)
- Microsoft Office suite
Education and Experience
- 8 – 10 years of marketing experience within B2B or B2C including brand management and product or service marketing
- Bachelor's degree required in marketing or business, MBA preferred
