About This Role:
World Distribution Services (WDS), a world Group Company, is currently looking for an ambitious and determined person to join our family as a Director of Business Development! This position is open to sit in either our Linden, New Jersey or Savannah, Georgia locations.
The Director of Business Development will be responsible for generating new business, diversifying the customer base, and increasing sales volume. This role will be expected to network, build, and maintain relationships with prospective customers, in addition to responding to customer inquiries and providing quotes, information and supply chain solutions quickly and professionally. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage existing business accounts and continuously build customer rapport while expanding the penetration of all company services
- Prospect for leads to build a pipeline, including a heavy focus on establishing contact with new mid-sized customers who are not familiar with our client
- Independently generate new cross-dock, transload, and distribution services sales revenue
- Identify potential customers and develop an entrance strategy of cold calling, qualifying and effectively connecting with prospective business partners.
- Monitor market conditions, product or service innovations, and competitors’ products, prices and sales.
- Monthly reporting of various metrics and recording sales activity in CRM
- Identify, develop, and evaluate marketing strategies based on knowledge of company’s objectives, market characteristics and cost factors.
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 7+ years sales experience in the warehousing, supply chain and fulfillment industry sales or similar role
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics Management preferred but not required
- Demonstrated success managing relationships with larger retail-oriented customers
- Demonstrated achievement in B2B sales and
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Organized and detail oriented
- Must be willing and able to travel extensively (>50%) to meet customers and sell services
