MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Interview, hire, supervise, coach, evaluate, discipline and assist employees in setting and meeting
    performance goals. Develop and monitor performance and responsibilities of assigned staff while
    monitoring staffing patterns
  • Understand the Nursing Process and Standards of Nursing Practice as defined in the current literature;
    effectively communicate to clinical staff the expectation of absolute conformity to the process and
    standards as defined and apply appropriate accountability measures through coaching, mentoring and
    even-handed application of the progressive discipline process
  • Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to plan, implement and monitor audits and develop any
    necessary plans for corrections
  • Direct and coordinate the clinical interdisciplinary process for independent living
  • Direct the appropriate utilization of nursing informatics and mastery of electronic health records
    documentation methods; ensure appropriate access for all levels of nursing staff to both capture and view
    resident information for informed evidence-based clinical decision making
  • Hire and develop nursing staff who embrace excellence in competency, compassion and communication
  • Identify ongoing clinical education and nursing/care management needs by utilizing evidence based CQI
    methods; leverage all resources to provide meaningful and efficacious clinical education and training;
    monitor skills attainment through resident outcomes
  • Develop, maintain and update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day operations of
    the resident health clinic
  • Assist in the development of the annual Capital and Operating Budgets for the resident health clinic ;
    analyze monthly statistical and budget variance reports
  • Provide infection control oversight in Independent Living to include management of outbreaks of
    infectious disease, reporting to regulatory agencies and the Virginia Department of Health, and
    educating staff as appropriate
  • Serve on the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee and fulfill committee responsibilities as
    outlined in regulations and the Quality Assurance Program for the organization
  • Respond to emergency calls when required
  • Coordinate employee health initiatives, to include flu shot administration, TB screening, Hep B protocol
    per OSHA regulations
  • Oversee requisition of clinic supplies; recommend equipment purchases
  • Perform admission interviews and assessments through sales and marketing
  • Coordinate admission and transfers, discharges with in all areas of residency; communicate with
    interdisciplinary team
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Strong clinical and assessment skills and knowledge of diseases processes
  • Knowledge of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws,
    regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long term care administration
  • Ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel
    and the general public
  • Ability to interpret, communicate and implement policies, procedures, regulations, financial records,
    reports, etc. to staff, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel.
  • Ability to make decisions and choices independently
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve the desired results
  • Ability to work harmoniously with and supervise staff and develop/maintain good personnel relations and
    employee morale
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on objective analysis of a situation when under pressure and/or
    adverse conditions
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills and ability to speak publicly in front of large or small
    groups

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Understanding and knowledge of culture change in the long term care setting
    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing or combination education and experience to fulfill the requirements of the
    position
  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia in good standing
  • Eight to ten years nursing experience
  • Five years management experience
  • Acute and long term care experienc

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master Degree in Nursing
  • Licensed Assisted Living Facilities Administrator/ LNHA
