Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Learning Officer (CLO), the Director is responsible for leading the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of OLE’s external communications and special events. The Director leads and manages a complex set of strategies and constituencies designed to optimize the implementation of key portions of OLE’s strategic plan and the CLO’s priorities, which includes developing strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. The Director is charged with providing leadership in shaping and integrating OLE’s communications and marketing functions into a cohesive strategy that aligns with its strategic vision and advances its overall mission.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area with at least ten years of successful experience relating to the duties described is required, as is successful experience in communications strategy and a proven record of aptitude for and accomplishment in building relationships with diverse constituents, including community, academic and government leaders. Preferred qualifications include prior experience working with federal legal personnel, especially within DOJ.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The Director must be a results-oriented leader with a strong sense of vision, creativity, and initiative who also demonstrates strong organizational and leadership skills and has a demonstrable ability to build programs and relationships to enhance OLE’s strategic objectives in support of its mission. The Director must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence and motivate constituencies and to build high-performing teams. Additionally, the Director must possess the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in an organized and detail-oriented way. The Director must also have strong interpersonal and customer-service skills and be able to work well with various constituencies, including OLE faculty, staff, students, and other groups. Sound judgment and high emotional intelligence are essential.
