Position: Director of Compliance Reports to: Assistant Executive Director

Director of Compliance Job Summary: The Director of Compliance will be responsible for providing overall Compliance for Loving Arms. He/She will provide written and oral advice and guidance regarding compliance requirements that impact the company’s policies and procedures.

The Director of Compliance will evaluate the level of compliance with the agency and government contracting policies. He/She will participate as a compliance expert as appropriate in committees and groups established to support Loving Arms initiatives. The Director of

Compliance will be responsible for analyzing new and proposed legislation that impacts company operations, policies, and services.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develops, initiates, maintains and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance program.

2. Develops compliance organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.

3. Establishes compliance operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.

4. Develops compliance financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.

5. Protects assets by establishing compliance standards; anticipating emerging compliance trends; designing improvements to internal control structure.

6. Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing regulations; recommending new procedures; complying with legal requirements.

7. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

8. Develops and periodically reviews and updates standards of conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.

9. Responds to alleged violations of rules regulations, policies, procedures and standard of conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.

10. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the agency.

11. Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested.

12. Serve as the Incident Management Coordinator (IMC).

13. Responsible for implementation of all Protection from Harm requirements within the agency.

14. Review and process all Reportable Incident Forms daily.

15. Chair Weekly Incident Management Review Committee meeting (documenting all IMRC discussions and actions in meeting minutes/attachments).

16. Submit all Reportable Incident Forms, Complaint Resolution Information, Reportable

Staff Misconduct Investigations (final reports), final reports from state investigations, and investigations follow-up documentation to IMRC weekly.

17. Follow all Protection from Harm recommendations through to completion (may include recommendations from weekly IMRC meeting, CRS reports, RSM reports, State

Investigation Reports, QA Survey Reports, and other reports with PFH-related recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field of study is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years compliance experience
  • Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
  • Must possess a deep understanding of and ability to interpret and apply healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Strong PC and Microsoft office skills (MS Word, Excel, Power point)
