As one of the nation's largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions, we are seeking a Director of Construction to join our NY Office.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Director of construction is responsible for all job costs, performance, managers, field staff, engineering, and the WIP report. They must regularly update the VP and the Executive Board of Directors/the COO of FSG electric. This position is critical to the success of FSG electric. You will ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications. You must have excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems and resolve disputes.
Work closely with the Director of estimating and pre-sale/ Director of BD/ VP to provide feedback and improve front-end sales philosophy. Provide more efficient building options that can be carried over to the estimating approach. Ensure projects are built how they are bid unless changes are approved in advance. Develop lessons learned process to review and meet officially to discuss positives and negatives upon project closeout.
The goal is twofold: to ensure that our projects are being built efficiently and effectively according to the plans and specs. Secondly, we are constantly improving our methods and processes to build even better in the future.
You will also greatly influence the developing and rolling out of new processes, procedures, and products. This is an extremely entrepreneurial position with a lot of room for growth. You will build an operation capable of delivering on roughly 65mm to 100mm in annual sales. The director will be responsible for meeting or exceeding the annual/quarterly P&L budget. You will also be responsible for initiating hiring and firing and working with Corp. HR on the recruitment front specific to Dept 10.
Qualifications:
- Education in business or engineering. Bachelors & MBA preferred.
- Ability to take ideas of and the plans of the Executive Board and CEO, make them actionable, and ensure they are done efficiently.
- Possess the requisite leadership, emotional intelligence, vision, and interpersonal skills to help motivate the staff and deliver exceptional operational outcomes to meet agreed-upon growth objectives.
- Expert in process improvement.
- Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.
- At least 10 years of operations experience in a management role.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Operationally driven with experience creating best practices, standards, and procedures.
- Personality traits including attention to detail, ownership mentality, life learner with a positive attitude and firm and assertive yet empathic approach.

- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and adopt new technologies.
- Ability to assess and develop talent pipelines.
- High personal integrity and the ability to instill the same in others.

- Ability to supervise and motivate others long distances (other cities in the region).
