Under general supervision of the CEO, is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of an integrated donor development program that encompasses best practices and strategically targets all levels of giving for YWCA Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley, while ensuring that activities involved are conducted in accordance with the policies set by YWCA’s Board of Directors.


The Duties and Responsibilities of this position are to:

  • Oversees fundraising activities for YWCA operations including major giving, special events, direct mail appeals, and corporate partnership initiatives.
  • As a member of the leadership team, works closely with CEO to develop and lead annual fundraising strategy for the organization.
  • Cultivates relationships with current and prospective funders and supporters.
  • Serves as staff liaison to special events committees. Develop agendas and supporting materials in coordination with board committee chair and CEO. Attends board or executive committee meetings as requested.
  • Directs and coordinates with Development Associate to ensure accurate data entry, gift processing, and timely acknowledgements to all donors.
  • Directs and coordinates with Development Associate to ensure positive volunteer experiences and cultivate volunteer and community partner engagement.
  • Works closely with Director of Communications to coordinate integrated development and communications strategy.
  • Supervises coordination of event contractors, vendors, volunteers, and staff for special events.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of donor and client information.
  • Requires occasional weekend and evening hours for special events/fundraising activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge and Training Required to Meet Position Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of fundraising or stewardship experience.
  • Evidence of successful events management, sponsorship acquisition, donor stewardship required.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and writing expertise, an understanding of the mission of the YWCA, and enthusiasm for the people served and the programs created.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in person by phone and in writing, with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Experience managing donor database system, and/or ability to quickly learn new database management. Highest attention to detail required.
  • Must be detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical and planning skills, and a desire to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Must have a "people first" attitude and possess the ability to think creatively, work under pressure and within time constraints, and work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Pay Information:

  • $65,000 salary

Schedule:

  • 37.5 hours weekly
  • Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, 30-minute unpaid break during shift
