Director of Emergency Communications
Augusta County seeks an energetic, creative, and skilled leader to serve as the Director of Emergency Communications for Augusta County located in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The Center is the public safety answering point for law enforcement, fire & rescue and regional entities and serves a population of 78,000. The successful candidate will need to possess dynamic leadership ability, capital planning and project management experience, hands-on management knowledge, staff development commitment, and excellent verbal and written skills; and a willingness to work in concert with the Public Safety Community, Staff, County Administrator, and Regional Partners. The primary duties of the position include planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the operations of the Emergency Communications Center, including the telephone and radio communications system. The candidate must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in law enforcement or related field and extensive experience in communications center operations including considerable supervisory experience.
