Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The Department of Military & Veteran Affairs at the University of South Carolina is tasked with implementing a university-wide strategy to support all military-related services for the University. Director of Events and Outreach will coordinate and oversee all initiatives, as it pertains to events, partnerships, and communications in collaboration with the Executive Director of Military & Veteran Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree and 2 years experience in event management, partnership development, and/or communications, or bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience in event management, partnership development, and/or communications.

Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of military structure and culture. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Wordpress, social media platforms and analytics, and multiple registration-based software and programs to include Touchnet, Filemaker and Formstack.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with faculty, alumni, donors, students, volunteers, businesses, government agencies, and the general public. Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to travel, work evenings and weekends, as required. Computer proficiency including database operation and word processing. Supervisory experience in hiring, managing, training and mentoring development coordinators and administrative staff is desired. Proven ability to develop relationships with leaders in a broad range of profession.
