Director of Facilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Director of Facilities and Operations to oversee all building-related activities. Responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensure that facilities are safe and well-functioning including overseeing laundry operations. Ensure the optimization of space and equipment, while reducing operating costs. Identify and address opportunities for improvement, maintain knowledge of, and recommend, equipment and expenditures. Foster and maintain a safe environment for employees, visitors and residents.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Plan, organize, directs, and controls the Facility Departmental Operations to ensure that the physical premises are safe, well-maintained, and fully operational
- Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
- Inspect buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
- Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs
- Supervise all staff facilities staff (custodians, technicians, groundskeepers etc.) and external contractors
- Develops Facilities and Operations financial plan in conjunction with the Campus’s fiscal guidelines. Monitors the facility’s annual capital equipment budget in conjunction with Administration and Fiscal Services
- Control activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal, building security etc.
- Allocate office space according to needs
- Handle insurance plans and service contracts
- Keep financial and non-financial records and perform analysis and forecasting
- Utilizes strategic planning techniques, determines appropriate course of action in order to establish and meet objectives which relate to goals of the Campus.
- Establishes effective and efficient Facility and Operations organization through the appropriate use of Human Resources, Equipment and Technological methods
- Establishes and implements policies and procedures for Facilities operation
- Plans and initiates methods on all Facilities and Operations problems; advances new ideas, plans or methods to promote efficiency and effectiveness within department operation
- Always maintains equipment and supplies properly; schedules repairs and orders supplies as necessary; demonstrates cost consciousness in using and ordering supplies
- Maintains and follows policy and procedure manuals at all times
- Demonstrates a complete knowledge of infection control, safety, emergency codes, disaster plans and procedures, and the correct use of all forms required in the operation of the Facility
- Maintains compliance with all OSHA regulations
- Serves as an Essential Employee for emergency operations available 24/7 for all related incidents. Maintains active knowledge of role in emergency operations and participation in Western New York Mutual Aide.
- Administers, plans, and directs service contracts such as landscaping, custodial, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, pest control, generators, fire, life safety, work order management system, and snow removal operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:- Work area will vary from an office setting to all areas inside and outside of the Campus.
- May be exposed to temperature variances.
- Subject to an environment where failure to follow safety guidelines and safe work practices may result in serious injury.
- Exposure to outdoor spaces.
PERSONAL OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Frequent body movements include lifting, moving, transferring, bending, stooping, squatting and reaching.
- Able to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted, with twisting and turning of the torso, and stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
EDUCATION:- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (preferred);
- OR an Associate’s degree and equivalent experience.
- One or more facilities related educational or experience related designations preferred, such as: International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or equivalent.
- Professional Engineering License (preferred).
EXPERIENCE:- At least three (3) years in a responsible supervisory role (required).
