JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide a safe and secure hotel environment for our guests and staff members. Supervise and inspect the performance of the Security Staff, ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel's standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the safety and fire procedures for hotel are kept at the highest level of proficiency.
  • Implement safety and security training programs for the security department and all other departments where applicable.
  • Promote and maintain a harmonious working relationship with the Executive Committee and all other managers and employees of the hotel.
  • Act as liaison with local law enforcement and fire department authorities and carry out investigations to all security matters.
  • Prepare the statistical data for purposes of noting trends and patterns, then follow through with recommendations for suitable corrective/preventive measures.
  • Develop departmental procedures.
  • Initially develop, then periodically review and revise all emergency procedures.
  • Develop strategies for Loss and Accident Prevention and create Safety Incentive Programs.
  • Ensure compliance of OSHA standards and take preventative measures.
  • Maintain current certification in CPR and First-Aid (Basset?)
  • Assess departmental needs, identifying problems and initiating corrective action.
  • Effectively utilize security manpower.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with all policies and procedures, rules and regulations, whether inter- or intra- departmental.
  • Recruit, interview, hire and train personnel.
  • Handle business interruptions and complaints, such as suspicious individuals, civil disturbances or demonstrations, noise complaints, intoxicated individual etc.
  • Investigate accidents, thefts and all other safety concerns pertaining to guests and in coordination with human resources for team members.
  • Maintain and monitor lost and found process and procedures.
  • Responsible for all Security Audits along with meeting our hotel brand standards.
  • Assist guests or employees during emergency situations, such as fire, evacuation, flood, severe weather, bomb threat, robbery, natural disasters, etc.
  • Assess staffing needs on a weekly basis and schedule accordingly.
  • Complete weekly payroll, controlling labor costs and keeping overtime to a minimum.
  • Conduct performance reviews, suggest merit increases and give frequent feedback to the officers, supervisor and Assistant Director.
  • Effect disciplinary measures within the department when appropriate, ensuring the appropriate detailed documentation.
  • Provide input as it relates to budgeting and capitol expenditures.
  • Review all paperwork generated by the Security Department ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct and/or supervise investigations as requested or required.
  • Keeps the General Manager up-to-date and well informed on all matters pertaining to security.
  • Observe, report and correct irregularities.
  • Set and maintain standards for the Security Department, constantly evaluating its overall performance and efficiency.
  • Assist in handling unusual guest or employee problems.
  • Organizes, participates and maintains Hotel Safety Committee.
