Job Summary/Basic Function
The Director of Undergraduate Recruitment develops, coordinates, implements, and oversees an effective undergraduate student recruitment program committed to meeting goals for new student enrollment. This person develops and executes an annual tactical recruitment plan closely tied to Millersville University’s enrollment management plan and MU’s strategic mission, values, and aspirations. The Director of Undergraduate Recruitment requires a seasoned admissions professional with a passion for serving students in higher education. The Director of Undergraduate Recruitment reports to the AVP of Enrollment Management and Dean of Admissions.

Annual Salary Range: $92,342.00 – $105,532.00, plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment, including:
  • Health insurance – Low bi-weekly premium, with coverage starting on the first day of employment for employee and all dependents.
  • Dental insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents with coverage starting on the first day of employment.
  • Vision insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents with coverage starting on the first day of employment.
  • Group life insurance – Equal to annual salary (up to $50,000) at no cost to the employee.
  • Voluntary Group Life and Accident Insurance – Available for purchase at low rates for additional employee coverage as well as coverage for spouse and children.
  • Long Term Disability Insurance – Available for purchase at low rates with either a 90 or 180-day waiting period.
  • Retirement – 2 plans to choose from.
  • Tuition waiver – For employee, spouse, and dependents.
  • Personal leave – Up to 6 days per year.
  • Vacation leave– Up to 10.4 days accrued per year for first year, increases to 15.6 days per year after 1 year.
  • Sick leave – Up to 15.6 days accrued per year, including up to 5 days per year that can be taken to care for a family member.
  • Holiday leave – 12 days per calendar year.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible Admissions experience OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within an admissions operation.
  • Experience as an admissions territory manager and/or experience supervising territory managers.
  • Experience with selective admissions processes.
  • Public Speaking experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience serving diverse student populations and a track record of success.
  • Budget management skills.
  • Analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated and creative solutions.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful interview (including presentation).
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior admissions experience in a public institution of higher education.
  • Prior experience using Technolutions/Slate, Banner.
  • Multi-lingual, especially Spanish fluency.

Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight for the Office of Admissions to ensure delivery of quality service to all constituents, including prospective students and their families, academic and administrative departments, faculty and staff, educational partners in the community, and others.
  • Provide leadership for the University’s undergraduate student recruitment effort by coordinating the development and implementation of an annual tactical recruitment plan that includes enrollment objectives by population and strategies to achieve those objectives.
  • Plan, supervise, and manage the recruitment and selection process for all undergraduate first-year and transfer students.
  • Create, implement, and supervise a territory management strategy and deploys resources based on data analysis, consultation, and best practices.
  • Plan and supervise the development of innovative visitation programs and events on campus and in the field.
  • Solicit, plan, and coordinate the active tactical support of campus partners who participate in recruitment and yield programming.
  • Lead the development and implementation of evaluation processes for review of applications for admission within the context of university policies and procedure and professional best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal and external campus partners in the development of admissions collateral materials intended to attract and support prospects.
  • Develop and manage the undergraduate admissions budget and resources and acts responsively with well documented accountability for these resources.
  • Provide relevant data and analysis to the AVEM and other campus partners.
  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional development, including the development of professional contacts with colleagues, trainings, and attendance/presentations at professional conferences.
  • Manage the development and training of staff under their supervision.
  • Continually assess and revise departmental systems, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness and to remain competitive while following best practices.
  • Work with admissions staff and all campus partners to ensure that all campus contacts are of the highest caliber, balancing student volunteer, faculty, and staff involvement to deliver accurate information, create prospective student attachment and optimize yield.
  • Develop and submit internal/external reports as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
