Pleasant View Gardens is on the forefront of cutting edge innovations in floriculture products. Our Research & Development department works closely with Proven Winners® and elite plant breeders to develop, trial, and select, the highest quality annual, perennial, and edible plants for our market. During the summer season, we install and maintain an approx. 3 acre Proven Winners® Signature Display Garden which consists of over 10,000+ annuals planted in the ground, in mixed containers, and in hanging baskets. The purpose of these gardens is to highlight new introductions, showcase the garden performance of our genetics, promote our PVG programs to the floriculture industry, and inspire others to garden more. The seasonal crew member is focused on executing day-to-day plant installation and plant care, garden maintenance, and general irrigation tasks.
This is a summer job from May - August 2023.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Display Garden Installation – bed prep, transplanting, and establishment growing.
- Display Garden Maintenance – pest/pathogen/weed management, drip irrigation maintenance, fertilization, pruning, general plant maintenance.
- Display Garden Irrigation - install drip irrigation, set up and maintain self-watering planters, assist with weekend watering responsibilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent skills in organization and communication
- Demonstrated ability to be punctual and prepared to work
- Desire to learn more about Horticulture / Agriculture
- General knowledge of greenhouse and field operations a plus
