SUMMARY:
The Distribution & Logistics Manager directs and coordinates distribution, movement and storage activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations while maximizing operating profits. This position will plan, organize, direct and control specific activities including operations, logistics, administration, and customer service. This individual will ensure that systems and procedures are developed supporting the established company organizational objectives. The Distribution & Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely execution of all handling and transportation activities inbound and outbound. This position will review the expenses of the distribution center and freight operation to respond to controllable budget variances.

SUMMARY:
The Distribution & Logistics Manager directs and coordinates distribution, movement and storage activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations while maximizing operating profits. This position will plan, organize, direct and control specific activities including operations, logistics, administration, and customer service. This individual will ensure that systems and procedures are developed supporting the established company organizational objectives. The Distribution & Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely execution of all handling and transportation activities inbound and outbound. This position will review the expenses of the distribution center and freight operation to respond to controllable budget variances.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates and supervise all Hurst warehouse operations, transportation, and customer service.
- All Inbound and Outbound deliveries and maintenance of related Material Handling Equipment
- Keep accurate inventory control of Finished Goods, Sundries and Raw Materials.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational and system issues to minimize interruption and downtime.
- Lead improvements on any Order Management and WMS systems
- Maintains a safe, clean, organized and secure warehouse operation (including perimeter of the facility)
- Research and selection of ideal shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
- Proactively evaluates daily and activity to make the necessary changes to the operation to meet the demand of the customer.
- Develop and evaluate metrics to assess warehouse performance to drive operational improvements.
- Continuous development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all Distribution and Logistics Operations.
- Reviews monthly financial statements and being accountable for controllable budget variances.
- Good analytical, problem solving and organizational abilities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Managing 100% on-site
- Enjoys being on the operations floor, stands and walks on concrete surfaces for up to 8 hours per day.
- May be seated at a desk working on computer for a portion of the workday.
- Works around heat, cold, dirt, dust, and minimal paint odors
- Minimum of 10 years of Operational, Warehouse and/or Logistics Management experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration, logistics, supply chain or relevant field.
- Thorough understanding of the warehouse and distribution operations. I.e. All Inbound, Picking, Put away, Loading, Cycle Counts, Outbound activities.
- Good People Skills and enjoys motivating his/her team.
- Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software.
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and solve problems using reliable data.
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities that must be pursued simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to implement projects from planning to execution.
- In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry.
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Oracle is a Plus.
- Lean Principles. Yellow or Green Belt is a Plus
- Familiar with Transportation and/or routing software
- Experienced in Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
