District Grounds / Maintenance Job at Cornwall-Lebanon School District
Hours:
8 Hours per Day (twelve month position) - 6:30 am - 2:30 pm
**Hours subject to change during the months of November through March.
Benefits:
Care for and keep district grounds maintained. Operation of turf maintenance equipment, maintain various turf related machinery, mulch, trim shrubbery and trees, and maintain athletic fields. Care for and provide maintenance duties in and around district buildings. District facilities will be safe, attractive, clean, and efficient for students, employees, and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintenance
Complete maintenance items concerning the exterior property of the school district and maintain the athletic fields for school district programs.
Perform general maintenance duties as assigned by their supervisors.
Perform various grounds maintenance duties as assigned by their supervisors.
Minor Repairs
Change air filters, replace light ballasts, and lamps, repair lavatory fixtures and
Painting.
Report custodial or maintenance items of a more serious nature to their immediate supervisor.
Safety Awareness
Observe and report deficiencies in the cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of District facilities.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Must be willing to work overtime, evenings and weekends, in all weather conditions.
Must be willing to be reassigned to unspecified duties when required to meet special needs or emergencies such as snow removal.
Operates snow removal equipment to maintain district roadways, parking lots, and sidewalks, as needed.
Other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma.
Valid PA driver’s license.
Current PA Department of Agriculture pesticide license (must be obtained within 90 days of employment).
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment (Ex. buffers, vacuum, cleaners, etc.)
Ability to operate mechanical equipment (Ex. lawn tractors, farm tractors, push type lawn mowers, weed whackers, hedge clippers, PTO driven equipment)
Ability to operate power tools (Ex. drills, circular saw, reciprocating saws, etc.)
Ability to use computer technology efficiently, i.e., electronic mail, internet, word, and spread sheet programs for communication, research, or documentation purposes.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL / ENVIRONMENTAL:
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength, i.e., lifting and pushing approximately 25 to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
Ability to walk for extended periods during the shift
Climbing ladders approximately 20 feet high.
Able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch
Sensory Abilities:
Able to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear
Must have vision abilities that include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
Temperament:
Must be courteous, helpful, and cooperative in relationships with supervisors, fellow workers, professional staff, students, and building visitors
Mental Demands:
Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions relating to service calls, cleaning methods, supply orders, and other similar communications
Environment:
May include exposure to hot temperatures, cold temperatures, sudden change in temperatures, noise, slippery surfaces, rain and snow
