What You Will Do:
Provide a healing centered approach and eliminate disparities in the workplace and identify programmatic gaps by examining current ways of cultivating data in the People Experience Department and programmatic data and then analyzing this data to develop responsive and inclusive solutions. Offer strategic consultation and technical support to all departments to guide efforts to resolve barriers to the progress in diversity and equity for all individuals.
- Plans, guides and advises CEO and leadership team on diversity and equity matters. Collaborates with leadership team to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees.
- Reviews all policies and procedures including SOPs to ensure diversity, equity, and accessibility are embedded.
- Develops and implements training to promote cultural understanding and competency and further a climate of diversity and equity.
- Monitors and supports talent acquisitions (employees, interns, contractors, vendors and Board), community engagement, legislative policy processes to ensure diversity, equity, and accessibility.
- Manages EEO investigations in collaboration with Chief People Officer as a result of discrimination and harassment complaints filed by employees, interns, volunteers or any other individual. Evaluates documentation provided and advises individuals and departments on appropriate action(s) to be taken. Provides mediation, as needed. Ensures written report of investigatory findings and disposition are prepared and maintain in a confidential file.
- Promotes NAMI Chicago commitment to a climate of diversity and equity through interaction with individuals and agencies inside and outside the organization including the Board of Directors, leadership team, supervisory staff, employees, interns, volunteers, and community partners.
- Gathers, researches, and analyzes data for use in statistical calculations and reporting in order to meet federal and state requirements. Collaborate with CPO on workforce analysis reports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to serving marginalized and underrepresented populations in various social, economic, and racial backgrounds as well as those living with mental health conditions and/or substance use disorders
- Proven record of success working in a diverse environment that includes people of different identities, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender and physical/mental ability
- Strong knowledge of diversity and equity (what it means and tools to manage it)
- Ability to think strategically, analytically, and creatively
- Ability to communicate complex information, clearly, concisely, and courageously
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate degree or equivalent experience (5 or more years) in human resources management, industrial psychology, organizational development, or related field.
- Five years of successful experience leading diversity and equity initiatives
- Three years of successful experience managing relationships and leading change
- Demonstrated qualities of compassion, integrity, and connection
Physical Requirements
- Ability to talk, listen, and process complex information
- Ability to type and use computer screen and keyboard
- Ability to be stationary for extended periods of time
- Ability to travel as needed, locally in various climates
