The Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity Manager is a program manager that cultivates a supportive and inclusive work environment for all our employees. Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity Manager works on analysis, policies, processes, and programs for the achievement of a work environment where each person in our organization feels welcomed, respected, supported, and valued as a team member. In an effort to improve communications, collaboration, and innovation by working with all departments and offices on opportunities for diversity, equity and inclusivity through training, recruitment, benefits, and employee committees to help attract, retain, and motivate a diverse workforce.
Note:
While the hiring process is occurring now, we do not expect this position to start until January 2023.
- Provides direction and project management in the development and maintenance of resources that drive success of diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) initiatives in partnership with appropriate business and functional teams. Proactively identifies and eliminates obstacles, develops project risk assessments, and implements risk mitigation plans to ensure high quality results
- Researches and advises on diversity, equity and inclusivity issues and creating programs in alignment with the County’s values
- Drafts company policies that reinforce diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the workplace, for all groups of employees
- Works with hiring managers and recruiting staff on how to select, manage, evaluate, and retain diverse employees, including reviewing selection criteria to verity objectivity and job relevance
- Works with Communications to revise, update and ensure consistency of all employee facing communication related to DEI
- Works with Human Resources Business Partners on job descriptions and other internal documents to ensure we use inclusive language
- Develops, measures and forecasts diversity metrics
- Acts as a consultant and liaison to underrepresented employee groups and make sure all voices are heard
- Works with Learning & Development to offer trainings to boost employees’ awareness of DEI topics
- Provides DEI insight into County’s programs and operational functions as needed
- Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) internally and externally

- Ability to successfully lead an enterprise-wide program

- Knowledge of labor and human rights legislation

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or related field
- At least 5 years of relevant experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bilingual
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.

- Spends 90% of the time sitting and 10% of the time either standing or walking.
- Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.
- Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions.
- Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment.
- Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work-related equipment.

Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
