JOB SUMMARY
Dockhands provide professional and friendly customer support services to all patrons of the marina. In addition to securing and docking vessels, all Dockhands are involved in maintaining a clean and presentable marina to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Dockhands work outside, in all types of weather, and are constantly moving, pulling, climbing and lifting as they assist customers with their boating requests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists marina guests with securing and docking in specific slips.
- Line handling, preparation for adverse weather, proper securing of boat to dock and or proper fuelling and environmental controls.
- Safe fuelling of marina patrons.
- Provides information to guests to orient them about the marina, facilities, and other commonly asked questions.
- Conducts skilled and semi-skilled marina maintenance as need per marina manager.
- Empty and dispose of garbage in marina garbage cans as well as police the marina for garbage every morning.
- Clean bathrooms.
- Clean Boats and flush engines as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Line handling skills including, ability to tie bowline, half hitch knots, toss and cleat lines.
- Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb and work safely around water on a ladder or in confined spaces
- Be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Flexibility with assignments and work hours.
- Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 7 hours).
- Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Previous dock hand experience in a similar setting is preferred.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays should schedule dictate at Marina Manager discretion
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- High school diploma or GED required
