Overview & Responsibilities
Provide management oversight (all aspects) of Documentation Control Team to facilitate successful execution of project documentation transfer to contractual requirements that meet Elliott’s quality standards. This role will oversee all formal project documentation transfer across of all newly manufactured business lines within Elliott Americas, including but not limited to, New Apparatus Project Engineering (EP and CPD), Project Management (IP) and Engineered Services.
Responsibilities:
  • Communicate documentation issues potentially affecting project schedule adherence quickly and concisely up the chain of command and while working with the appropriate Project Team and Management for resolution. A sense of urgency, understanding issues of concern and a rapid resolution are keys to success in this role
  • Provide oversight, guidance and direction to Document Control Team for the day-to-day activities of within the New Apparatus Project Engineering (EP and CPD), Project Management (IP) and Engineered Services., to achieve fair and satisfactory execution of contracts, within project budgets and to project schedules.
  • Provide insight on departmental strategic business initiatives required to reduce cost and drive process improvements throughout the New Apparatus Project Engineering Americas
  • Identifies gaps within current documentation processes and procedures, development of unique solutions to those gaps and drive implementation and integration of those solutions across Elliott including individual sub-departments, primary department, interdepartmental business units and potentially globally.
  • Works with Project Engineering Analyst to develop KPI's defining and monitoring performance of individual contributors and the Document Control Team as a whole. The intent is to use raw data from active Elliott data stream like Windchill, Oracle and Lotus notes.
  • Monitors documentation status across all active shop orders and work with members of New Apparatus Project Engineering (EP and CPD), Project Management (IP) and Engineered Services to expedite documentation transfer between Elliott and our Customer/Supply chain.
  • Continues to develop of highly motivated, technically proficient Document Control Team while improving efficiency of our process to reduce documentation cycle time.
  • Works with customers and suppliers.
  • Participates in resolution of supplier/customer issues and work with all external/internal customers to define/confirm project drawing and document specification requirements throughout project execution resolving all discrepancies along the way.
  • Establishes and achieves short and long-term goals with communication skills that keep entire workforce motivated and focused on meeting key objectives.
  • Ensures workforce is scheduled to ensure proper personnel are available to support all operations of the business at all times and that work is reviewed for accuracy prior to completion when
  • Improve processes and procedures with technology, as to allow for higher volume of projects while maintaining personnel levels.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, with 5+ years management experience with direct oversight of documentation control specialist
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully lead Teams (2-5 resources) executing multiple large, complex projects with extensive documentation simultaneously, while under significant pressure to provide high quality deliverables under a truncated timetable with demanding customers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in defining and tracking project documentation deliverables and execution strategies in collaboration with project stakeholders
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and a history of identifying and supporting process improvements across a Team of 2 or more
  • A background identifying gaps within current process and procedures, and providing recommendation for solutions to those gaps in an effort to increase efficiency or reduce cost during order execution
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (including Microsoft Project) and PLM systems, Windchill experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate Team objectives clearly and concisely up and down the chain of command. This requires the ability work closely with interdepartmental Teams whose combined skills are essential to resolve issues and ensure successful project execution
  • Must have the ability to establish and achieve short and long-term goals with communication skills that keep entire workforce motivated and focused on meeting key objectives.
  • Experience demonstrating skills such as planning and schedule adherence, expediting key stakeholders and technical negotiation on complex projects to defined project specifications.
  • Experience with improvement processes such as LEAN or Six Sigma are preferred..
  • Previous experience with Engineering or heavy equipment manufacturing documentation is preferred
