Job Description
Under general supervision, the Administrative Clerk performs specialized departmental duties to include cashiering, receiving payments, balancing of assigned cash box, completing service work orders and permit applications. Employee must be able to handle various tasks despite numerous interruptions. Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required in daily contact with the public and staff. Job Responsibilities
1. Cashiers and receives payments in booth or at payment window, and balances assigned cash box.
2. May assist with daily money count and bank deposits.
3. Collects statistical or other information and reviews, verifies and corrects reports, records and forms.
4. Accurately completes and files service work orders and decal permit applications.
5. Performs clerical and receptionist duties, such as answering telephone inquiries, maintaining calendar, ordering office supplies, and sorting mail.
6. Responds to radio communications.
7. Coordinates with emergency response personnel as needed.
8. Complies with all City ordinances, safety rules, policies, and procedures.
9. Maintains records of dispatching activities.
10. Types and files routine correspondence, form letters, lists and reports.
11. Answers customers' questions, provides information on procedures and resolves common customer concerns in a diplomatic manner.
12. May act as liaison for the procurement card, if assigned.
13. Performs other job related duties as required or assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Requirements - 1. Position requires an accredited high school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Minimum one (1) year of cash handling experience required.
3. Must possess a current and valid Texas Class C driver's license.
4. Must be able to effectively communicate in English and Spanish.
5. Must be capable of providing knowledgeable and controlled dispatching under all types of conditions including urgent and emergency situations.
6. Must be able to use general office equipment, such as copy machine and fax, 10-key calculator, multi-line phone system and 2-way radio equipment.
7. Must be able to utilize a computer and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
1. Office environment working conditions are good and relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
2. Job generally requires little or no physical effort, lifting or pushing up to 05-15 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 10-50 lbs. on occasion including mainly files and file boxes.
Additional Information
1. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

2. This is a safety sensitive position, subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

3. Employee works a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during hurricane or other emergencies. Disclaimer
