As a member of the High-Rise Contract Logistics Center (HR-CLC), the Drafter will provide contract layouts for model and custom traction elevators by translating electronic contract ordering data, reading building plans, using various system calculations and automation tools, and AutoCAD software. Good quality, clean layouts are critical for downstream use to specify material and install equipment. This position requires multi-tasking to handle multiple open projects and good communication skills to interact with project management, sales, engineering, and field support team members in order to resolve issues and to have a timely release of layouts.
Responsibilities
- Use AutoCAD and other computer assisted design and drafting programs and equipment to develop customer and factory approval drawings
- Create and revise customer approval drawings
- Create sketches to relay design challenges and solutions to field offices
- Prepare final approval drawings that include rail stacks and rail bracket arrangements
- Update Drafting and Engineering Standards
- Maintain an organized file system for customer approval drawings
- Communicate with Contract Engineering, Project Manager, Otis field offices, QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised approval drawings
- Follow Otis quality system and participate in Continuous Improvement activities
- Attend and participate in department meetings
- Read architectural and structural drawings to integrate the elevator equipment into the building
Education/Experience
- 4+ years related experience
- Associate degree required
- Specialized training and previous layout drafting, blueprint reading, contract processing, and/or engineering experience required
- Must have good math skills, including proficiency in AutoCAD
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills, along with written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of traction elevator products preferred
