Bold Recovery, Inc. is an outpatient treatment center collaborating with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and Amity Foundation to address the varied needs of people on parole with substance use and mental health disorders. The Bold program utilizes evidenced based treatment models that are culturally competent for the criminal justice population and will address substance use, trauma, criminal thinking, and low to moderate mental health. Substance use disorder (SUD) services include screening and intake, brief intervention, education classes, assessment, treatment, case management, and care coordination with correctional health and mental health, re-entry planning and connecting to community-based services.

The Role

The Drug and Alcohol counselor facilitates one-on-one sessions with clients. In conjunction with client and treatment team, this role assists participants in developing a goal and action-oriented treatment plan that includes substance abuse recovery skills, strategies for coping with trauma, parenting interventions, family relationship skill building, enhancement of educational skills, health awareness, vocational development, etc. depending on participant need. The role is responsible for the delivery of individual and group sessions with the participants. Responsible for delivery of program orientation, coordinated case management, substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, and cognitive skill building classes, individual counseling sessions, caseload and process groups, milieu management and crisis intervention as needed. Sessions will be held in person in the office located in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Among qualifications listed below, successfully fulfilling this role also requires a working phone, stable internet connection, ability to work in the office, proof of vaccination and/or negative test results, and attendance of staff meetings regularly held on Saturdays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Provide one-on-one counseling service to clients to address substance use and mental health needs

● Timely and accurate completion of client records; i.e treatment plan, goals, client progress and notes.

● Develop client treatment plans based on research, clinical experience, and client history.

● Maintain up to date and accurate client records in various databases.

● Maintain communication and positive relationships with referring agencies and other outside resources.

● Demonstrate dependability and adaptability in working with diverse populations.

● Support clients in obtaining community resources.

● Participate in training and staff meetings.

● Maintain state required certifications.

● Additional duties as assigned by Clinical Supervisor and Program Director.

Knowledge & Skills

● Drug and Alcohol treatment counseling

● Progress note documentation and computer literacy

● Written and verbal communication skills

● Time Management skills – able to meet required timelines consistently

● Preferred familiarity working with criminal justice population

● Knowledge of psychotropic drugs, symptoms and effects

● Ability to work a flexible schedule

● Strong organizational skills

Job Qualifications/Requirements

· Must submit Livescan and receive clearance to work from CDCR

· Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CAADA, CCAADE, or CADTP)

· Must have experience in Drug and Alcohol Treatment Counseling

· Preferred to have non-profit organization experience

· Negative TB test needed for hire and annually thereafter

· Annual training requirements include Sexual Harassment Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, HIPAA, CPR/First Aid

Reports to: Program Manager and/or Clinical Supervisor

Hourly Rate: $20 - $22 Depending on experience

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
