    Position Overview:

    A 1.0 FTE Early Childhood Special Education Teaching position serving students and their families ages 3-5, in inclusive and self-contained environments at our Centerview Elementary Early Education site.

    General Responsibilities:

    Duties include, but are not limited to...
    • Work with an ECSE team providing special education services in inclusive and self-contained environments with students ages 3-5.
    • Assessment of children referred to the evaluation team which determines if the child has a disability,
    • Writing IEPs and following through with all special education due process
    • Consulting with teachers and parents regarding motor activities, self-help skills, special equipment or assistive devices, and sensory processing;
    • Maintaining close communication with parents and the early intervention team concerning student performance;
    • Maintaining accurate records, within Due Process compliance procedures, of students evaluated and served; including assessment results, progress and reports;
    • Participating in designated team meetings, Individual Education Plan meetings, and periodic reviews involved with assessment, programming, and evaluation decisions
    Knowledge and Skills:

    Desired previous experience/knowledge includes the ability to...
    • communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form;
    • read and interpret documents such as professional assessments;
    • make decisions regarding eligibility for and dismissal from special services;
    • score and interpret scores on standardized tests;
    • function as a member of a professional team; and
    • provide consultation services to parents and at times teachers to effectively serve students.


    Physical Requirements:

    Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force, and/or negligible of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

    Licensing Requirements:

    Minnesota License in Early Childhood Special Education.
