Under the supervision of the Center Director in collaboration with the Chief of Early Learning Programs, Instructional Coaches will work in collaboration with teachers to maintain and implement appropriate activities for children aimed to enhance growth and development while maintaining Head Start Performance Standards, Keystone Stars Standards, NAEYC Standards, CACFP standards, and state licensing standards. Instructional Coaches are part of the Centers leadership team.
Primary Responsibilities/ Tasks:
- Mentors, Coaches, supports, oversees and participates in implementation of daily lesson plans and activities, ensuring they are age appropriate, individualized, culturally sensitive and delivered with fidelity.
- Develops and Provides a regular schedule of observations, meetings, coaching, technical assistance, training and professional learning opportunities for teachers to ensure strong implementation of Practice Based Coaching, PBIS, ELOF, dual language, and to ensure compliance with federal, local, and state regulatory requirements.
- Delivers high-quality, job-embedded coaching support to teachers through various approaches such as individual discussions, (formal and informal), demonstration lessons, and modeling of instructional strategies with pre/post discussion and analysis, in collaboration with the Center Director.
- Collaborates with teachers to develop coaching goals that are aligned to continuous quality improvement and school readiness goals.
- Develops a trusting and reflective professional partnership with teachers and assistants.
- Assist teachers in setting classroom environments to meet best practices, NAEYC, Keystone Star 4 standards and to facilitate learning.
- Provides regular reports on coaching goals, monitoring plans, student outcomes and file revision.
- Model best practices for early childhood development , professionalism and school preparedness within the classroom for teaching staff, volunteers and parents.
- Work with teaching staff to problem-solve and implement solutions related to quality.
- Work with teachers to set goals, monitor progress and assess outcomes.
- Assures that all educational data is accurately completed, collected and reviewed and that data is entered into the database systems on time.
- Utilize leadership styles that are developmentally appropriate for individual teaching staff and give guidance regarding classroom/time management, discipline, scheduling, planning and organizing the day.
- Monitor staff progress and child outcomes based on student assessments and school readiness goals.
- Assist center staff with new teacher and volunteer onboarding and training; assist the education team in planning and implementing comprehensive, differentiated, and professional development for education staff.

- Responsible for reporting potential child abuse, neglect, and maltreatment according to the Head Start/Early Start Policies and Procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding children, families, and staff.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience teaching in Head Start/Early Head Start program.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring early childhood teachers strongly preferred.
- Ability to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at-risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and various educational philosophies.
- Strong leadership and management skills to include the ability to develop staff and support the delivery of educational services.
- Diplomacy and human relations skills required.
- Strong collaboration skills are required.
- Ability to work flexible hours (weekends and evenings) as needed.
- Ability to travel locally and out of state as needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to converse, read and write Spanish and English (preferred).
- Commitment to dual language learning (English and Spanish).
- Demonstrated ability to implement the use of appropriate curricula and instructional materials to enhance teaching and learning.
- Awareness of Puerto Rican culture/community (preferred).
- Ability to analyze and use data to inform decision-making.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to secure clearance for PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History, FBI, and National Sex Offenders Clearance (required).
- Ability to secure health clearances every two years and TB once (required).
- Hold certification for Infant/Child CPR and First Aid, or ability to complete the required training within one month of hire.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
