PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Education & Literacy Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of literacy and other academic programs for youth between the ages of 6 and 18 (such as but not limited to Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education). The coordinator also provides leadership and coaching to assigned program and volunteer staff and developing them as they plan, implement, supervise and evaluate activities in assigned programs. Education & Literacy programming is a key support to our priority outcome area of Academic Success, as well as Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Plan and oversee the administration of literacy and academic programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:
· Establish program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
· Oversee the provision of literacy and academic program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
· Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of literacy and academic programs and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills necessary for academic success.
· Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of staff and members
- Establishes and maintains club-wide program goals and settings that ensure the health and safety of members.
- Ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program.
- Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity
Program Development and Implementation
2. Establish and maintain literacy and academic program goals and settings that insure positive development of members
3. Ensure the evaluation of programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs
4. Work with youth counselors, staff and Program Manager to effectively implement and administer programs and activities for members
Supervision
5. Allocate and monitor objectives assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff
6. Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues
7. Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Communicate and coordinate with Program Manager regarding planning, implementing, and overseeing program activities
· Support Program Manager in efforts to maintain member records and accounts
· Consult with parents and schools concerning member issues and academics.
· Grant Reporting and Monitoring (CACFP)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.50 per hour
