- Support customer approach to achieving company safety and environmental performance objectives through effective collaboration with corporate and divisional EHS staff.
- Lead efforts to enhance hazard recognition, promote injury prevention, drive employee engagement, and improve safe behaviors at assigned facilities.
- Work with company leadership, facility personnel, and company EHS department personnel to develop and implement effective EHS strategies. Supervise EHS department staff.
- Support site managers, employees, and safety teams on initiatives and programs for compliance with all federal, state, and local safety, health and environmental regulations.
- Support site personnel in investigating incidents and injury-free events, implementing corrective actions from internal and external audits, and communicating with regulatory agencies, as required.
- Complete assigned projects in a timely, effective manner.
- Help drive employee engagement to create and foster a proactive, empowered safety culture.
- Establish and report site key EHS performance metrics to ensure scorecard objectives are met.
- Manage incident reporting process including completion of investigations/RCA's, implementation of corrective actions, and communication to key stakeholders.
- Assist in establishing site strategies, systems and controls to assure company objectives and compliance in the areas of environmental, health and safety.
- Coordinate process improvements that will reduce injuries and incidents and minimize employee exposures and environmental impacts.
- Perform other activities as required to support overall plant EHS and training effectiveness.
Facilities & Utilities:
- Coordinates and manages plant utilities and unplanned maintenance activities.
- Coordinates and manages the preventive / predictive maintenance and calibration programs.
- Provides ongoing communication to management and engineering on all manufacturing, utilities, equipment maintenance, calibration’s program and plant operation issues.
- Responsible for supplier services such as Water Systems Treatment, Diesel, PRASA, PREPA, among others.
- Responsible for ensure compliance and appropiate functioning of utilities like electrical and water systems, HVAC, chill water, hot water, water treatment plant, etc.
- Responsible for ensure compliance and appropiate functioning of facilities systems and programs like pest control, cleaning, decontamination, sanitization, etc.
- Ensures compliance to safety rules, work expectations, housekeeping standards and consistency of operating practices across shifts and work areas.
- Conducts regular and ongoing informational and improvement team meetings.
- Monitors productivity and ensures that staffing levels are appropriate to support the manufacturing plan and complies with the department’s performance metrics.
- Executes and manages the performance management process for all direct report employees.
- Manage quality improvement activities and quality issues. When quality incidents happen, lead root cause / corrective action analysis with direct reports and coordinate corrective actions as necessary (CAPA, Change Control, Investigations).
- Support other departments on investigation processes.
- Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
- Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relations.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Manages compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Health and Safety, Management, or other similar field.
- 5-8 years of experience in regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, etc.)
- Able to work and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent supervision skills.
- Demonstrated team building with hourly work force.
- Skilled at leading multiple projects at once and providing feedback to leadership and management.
- Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual: English-Spanish.
- Professional certifications in safety and/or environmental desired but not required.
