POSITION SUMMARY: The EHS Manager provides leadership and support to Service Centers and implements necessary safety programs and objectives across multiple opcos. This position is responsible to ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. This position will help develop and coordinate safety trainings and programs, monitor safety regulations, and provide support to ensure compliance with Company, Federal and State regulations, for the locations nationwide.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and maintain day-to-day health and safety programs, including auditing and regulatory recordkeeping/reporting, document and investigate all incidents involving property damage, personal injury, safety violations, unsafe conditions and non-compliance activities.
  • Trains, manages, and motivates, company personnel to achieve desired safety culture.
  • Designs and directs programs to protect employees against harm and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Formulates and suggests work safety standards and enforces procedures.
  • Meets compliance and reporting requirements for federal or state regulations.
  • Directs activities of safety committees and provides support and training.
  • Advises management on corrective action for safety incidents.
  • Provides technical safety and health support and information to facilities and personnel.
  • Prepares written safety and health programs and policies.
  • Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
  • Develops annual company safety and health goals.
  • Supports in the implementation of engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
  • Supports facility personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company communication systems.
  • Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.
  • Reviews process-operating procedures/records and provides input for safety and health considerations.
  • Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Advises region leaders of regulatory changes with which the facilities must comply and ensures changes are made to comply within established deadlines.
  • Audits practices and records of facilities to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims.
  • Reviews injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work varied hours as necessary.
  • Must be able to travel frequently to supported facilities within the region.
Requirements:

NECESSARY SKILLS, BACKGROUND & COMPENTENCIES:

  • OSHA documentation recordkeeping experience
  • EHS management experience
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead both directly and through influence.
  • Strong personal presence, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High drive for results, discipline in execution, and sense of urgency.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing organization and manage through complexity.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and an ability to create or implement effective process as needed.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels in the organization.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or similar discipline
  • 5-10 years of equivalent experience preferred
  • CSP or other relevant certifications a plus
