As one of the nation’s largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions we are expanding our staff and seeking an Electrical Construction Safety Manager to join the team.
Description

*
Ensuring proper management of Safety policy and procedures including:

  • Employee compliance for assigned location(s)
  • Conducting safety classes and toolbox talks
  • Performing project inspections and other activities to accomplish safety objectives
  • Ensuring all required paperwork, e.g. Job Hazard Analysis, Hot Work Protocol Permits, are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Ensuring injury protocols are being followed
  • Supervising Safety Coordinators

Education/Experience

*
Must have a have high school degree or equivalent.

  • Electrical construction background, journeyman license or master license.
  • Strongly prefer 10 year’s safety background.

Language Skills

*
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as common technical journals, safety policies, operational documents and simple financial reports.

  • Must have the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information to management, employees, vendors and customers.
  • Must be able to effectively respond and persuade others on proper safety protocols in accordance with safety policy and government regulations.
  • Must be able to effectively present safety materials to a group.
  • Must have excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Must be able to communicate with customers and fellow employees in a professional and courteous manner.

Mathematical Skills

Must have the ability to perform simple mathematical functions: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, as well as the ability to calculate discounts, interest and percentages.

  • Must have the ability to read and analyze a financial statement.

Technical Skills

  • Must have the ability to compose reports, e-mails and other correspondence which is correct in grammar and usage.
  • Must have above average general data entry and typing skills.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in verbal, mathematical or diagram form

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

*
Strongly prefer a valid driver’s license in good standing. In geographic areas where public transportation provides reasonable access to job sites, this requirement may be waived by management.

  • In order to conduct OSHA 10 Hour Class, employee will be required to successfully complete the OSHA 500 class.
  • For Specialized Equipment Training, employee may be required to attend a train-the-trainer class. These are typically available free of charge from the equipment Rental Company.

Reporting Relationship

  • Reports directly to the Director of Risk.

Responsibilities

  • Counseling employees and managers on policy issues
  • Maintaining employee records
  • Coordinating random and for cause drug test
  • Conduct LOTO, Advanced Energized Circuit Awareness, Meter Proficiency,

Hot Work Protocol classes; and other classes that may be required.

  • May be required to conduct OSHA 10 Hour Class and will distribute the OSHA 10 Hour Card.
  • Have or the ability to obtain NY DOB Site Safety Manager Certification.
  • Assist/perform monthly jobsite safety audits and follow-up as needed.
  • Ensure Job Hazard Analysis are conducted in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure Energized Permits are conducted in accordance with company policy
  • Investigate and conduct Root Cause Analysis for incidents and accidents.
  • Assist the Safety and Risk Manager with the investigations of all major incidents / accidents (e.g. shocks, serious falls/back injuries)
  • Conduct Stand and Deliver with the Branch Safety Committee.
  • Conduct Quarterly meetings with committee about safety in their Branch
  • Assist the branch in conducting the vehicle checklist. Follow-up on the inspections that were done.
  • Jobsite Paperwork- make sure each new jobsite has all appropriate signage
  • OSHA Poster
  • Workman’s Comp Poster
  • First Aid Kit/ Log
  • Evacuation Plan
  • HazCOM (Hazard Communication) Manual
  • Input training information into Safety Intelligence. Should provide updated safety cards to employees at least annually.
  • Provide specialized training as required. This may include:
  • Forklift
  • Lull (rough terrain forklift)
  • Scissor Lift
  • Knuckleboom
  • Any other duties as assigned
