Electronic Health Record Specialist Job at MOUNTAIN PARK HEALTH CENTER
The Electronic Health Record Specialist is responsible for providing customer service while maintaining patient demographics and insurance records. Performs routine duties associated with patient scheduling, payments, co-payments and maintaining medical records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Updates patient demographics at each visit.
- Verifies insurance information at each visit.
- Performs cashiering functions. Collects payments and prints receipts.
- Closes daily batch and balances cash drawer within plus or minus $5.00. Places money bag in the safe at the end of each shift.
- Ensures completion of all forms, obtains appropriate signatures (assignment of benefits, consent for treatment), and notes in the computer release of information, privacy policy and assignment of benefits.
- Appropriately schedules appointments per department guidelines; provides each patient with future appointments with an appointment card per department protocol as evidenced by appointment audit.
- Obtains medical records for same day appointments.
- Answers telephone by the third ring. Identifies the department, their name and asks, “May I help you?”
- Facilitates the distribution/receipt of all medical charts from the satellite clinics to the main site.
- Purges records yearly in accordance with MPHC Policies and Procedures.
- Assigns medical records for release of information.
- Processes and/or prepares medical records for release of information.
- Maintains the record management computer system and ensures accuracy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Previous Customer Service experience required.
- Previous medical front office and medical records experience required.
