EMAIL MARKETING SPECIALIST

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As the Email Marketing Specialist, your responsibilities will include strategic planning, building, testing, and executing email and SMS campaigns and event-driven automations for both our direct-to-consumer retail and wholesale, business-to-business websites - Dancewearsolutions.com and Weissmans.com.

You will capture, track and analyze campaign performance and evaluate their efficacy with a focus on driving traffic, engagement, revenue, and retention across all customer segments. Your role will sit within the Ecommerce team as part of the greater Marketing organization.

Our working environment is very complex consisting of: a large variety of target customers and associated behaviors, many brands and sub-brands that have unique requirements, and a range of different data sources. You will be expected to operate in a highly autonomous manner with minimal direct supervision and possess a strong desire to learn and leverage those learnings to move our email programs forward.

You will be expected to partner and leverage relationships with other members of the Ecommerce team as well as Creative, Social Media, Merchandising, IT and supporting 3rd party vendors and consulting partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Email Marketing

  • Execute the email and SMS programs to drive profitable traffic & revenue growth and build top-of-mind awareness through relevant and engaging communications.
  • Successfully identify, launch and optimize relevant customer segmentation strategies. Partner with IT and Marketing to ensure required customer and transactional data is available.
  • Manage and optimize existing triggered emails and automated customer journeys. Identify relevant new opportunities to create additional communication journeys.
  • Identify, test, and implement new opportunities to optimize email and SMS performance leveraging multivariate best practices (i.e., subject line, creative content testing).
  • Maintain knowledge of industry email and SMS best practices, tools, and trends.
  • Follow direct competitor email and SMS activities for learning, optimization and identification of potential opportunities for competitive business advantages.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners (i.e., Merchandising, Social Media) and email partners & vendors.

Campaign Management

  • Work with channel owners and creative team members to strategize, plan, document, and coordinate marketing campaigns.
  • Capture and/or define email and SMS campaign requirements and document leveraging campaign communication forms and processes.
  • Own the creation, scheduling, approval and launch of all emails and SMS messages.
  • Own the accuracy, updating, and communication of the Email Marketing Calendar and its relationship to the overarching Marketing Calendar.

Reporting and Budgeting

  • Analyze, monitor, and regularly report on the performance of email and SMS initiatives.
  • Monitor key email health metrics, minimize unsubscribes, improve customer satisfaction, and ensure CAN-SPAM compliance.
  • Assist with the creation and monitoring of the email marketing budget.

Qualifications

  • Self-starter. Strong desire to learn. Detail-oriented. Confident. Great communicator.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability and desire to derive insights that inform decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field - Digital Marketing, Ecommerce.
  • 3-5 years of focused, relevant email and SMS experience - Must possess dedicated email program ownership vs. being a digital marketing generalist where email represented only a portion of responsibilities.
  • Deep understanding of email strategy and best practices, customer segmentation, dynamic content, and customized messaging.
  • Experience analyzing & reporting on performance metrics (i.e., open rate, CTOR, conversion rate, etc.).
  • Experience with at least one major email service provider or ESP that possesses automation capabilities - Emarsys, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Listrak, etc
  • Prior experience in both consumer retail AND wholesale, business-to-business environments is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience launching an SMS text program is desirable.
  • Basic HTML knowledge preferred.

This is a hybrid role located in St. Louis, MO. Relocation available for the right candidate.
