Emergency Department RN (Registered Nurse) Job at Chloeta
Job Summary:
The ER RN will provide direct patient care at a federal facility in a Native American/American Indian medical facility located in Crownpoint, NM. The healthcare facility serves a population of 20,000 Navajo people. The staff consists of primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, at a 20-bed hospital. FY20 showed a daily inpatient load of 4, 129,239 annual outpatient visits, 717 annual OB visits, and 14,643 annual emergency room cases. This is a full-time position, with a minimum 13-week commitment. Options for four additional 13-week commitments are possible but are based on client needs.
Crownpoint is in Northwest New Mexico, on the Eastern edge of the Navajo Reservation, only a few hours drive North to the Southern Rockies, or East to Albuquerque and Santa Fe. World Class skiing is nearby, and the area has superb hiking and fishing opportunities.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining care standards in the emergency room.
- Able to assess patients quickly, prioritize, and assist in minor procedures.
- Manage patient check-in process, performance of triage work for doctors, and assisting with initial insurance paperwork.
- Communicate with doctors and patients to keep everyone updated on test results and treatment recommendations.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel and report lab findings back to ER doctors.
- Assist in the care of traumas, cardiac arrests, strokes, sexual assaults and conscious sedations.
- Demonstration of sound decision-making in emergency scenarios based on patient conditions such as vital signs, patient presentation, and assessments.
Education and Experience:
- Must have and maintain a current RN license
- Must have and maintain a current driver's license
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have a current BLS/CPR certification, as well as a current ACLP certification
- Must have at least 36 months of experience as an RN, 24 months as an ER nurse
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Newborn Life Support (NLS), Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ATCN) or Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to frequently lift at least 60 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
- Requires long hours of standing and moving.

Pre-employment Requirements
- May be contingent upon passing a security clearance, background check, drug screen or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides.
- Documentation from the provider’s physician or chief of staff that confirms they do not have any health problems (including disability, emotional stability, drug, or alcohol dependency) that might impair his/her ability to care for patients at time of application.
- Ability to meet client facility requirements with regard to immunity for vaccine preventable diseases through documented disease, vaccination history, serology results, and/or any documented episodes of adverse events after vaccination.

- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - 2 doses or titer documentation.
- Varicella (chickenpox) – 2 doses, titer documentation or history of varicella/shingles.
- Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap/Td) - 1 dose of Tdap, then tetanus (Td) booster every 10 years thereafter.

- Documentation of annual TB test- may include Mantoux TB skin test (PPD). All new employees will require the 2 step TST. Acceptable lab testing: Quantiferon Gold or T-Spot test. For positive TB test results,
please submit a copy of recent chest x-ray results. - Influenza - MANDATORY annual vaccination

Drug and Alcohol Testing
To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing during or at the beginning of employment.
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.
Emergency Response
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
